Liverpool advanced to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, thanks to two late goals from Jakub Kiwior and Luis Diaz.

The Reds, who had beaten the Gunners 4-1 in the Premier League last month, were made to work hard by a resilient Arsenal side, who had the better chances in the first half.

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed a golden opportunity to put his team ahead in the 25th minute, when he failed to connect with a cross from Bukayo Saka. The Gabonese also saw his header saved by Alisson Becker in the 40th minute, while Saka and Emile Smith Rowe also tested the Liverpool goalkeeper.

Liverpool, who rested several key players, struggled to create clear-cut chances, with Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota being kept quiet by the Arsenal defence. The visitors' best chance came in the 65th minute, when Curtis Jones hit the post with a curling shot from the edge of the box.

The game seemed to be heading for extra time, until Liverpool broke the deadlock in the 80th minute, when Trent Alexander-Arnold's free kick from the left wing was deflected into his own net by Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior, who was making his debut for the club.

Arsenal tried to find an equaliser, but were caught on the counter-attack in stoppage time, when Luis Diaz ran onto a through ball from Jones and smashed a powerful shot past Bernd Leno to seal the win for Liverpool.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised his team's performance and mentality, saying: "It was a tough game, but we showed our quality and character. We scored two fantastic goals and we defended very well. I'm very happy with the result and the performance."
