Portugal's football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed unwavering confidence in his team's ability to clinch the Euro 2024 title, asserting that the squad "deserves to win" the prestigious tournament. As the skipper of the 2016 champions, Ronaldo issued a rallying cry, setting the tone for Portugal's campaign in Germany.
Under the stewardship of manager Roberto Martinez, Portugal enters the tournament as one of the favorites, commencing their journey against Czechia on Tuesday in Group F, which also includes encounters against Turkiye and debutants Georgia. Despite stumbling in recent friendlies against Croatia and Slovenia, Portugal's flawless 100 per cent record in qualifying, with 36 goals scored and merely two conceded, underscores their formidable prowess.

Ronaldo, who netted an impressive 10 goals in the qualifiers, is poised to make history as the first player to feature in six editions of the European Championship. Holding records for the most appearances (25) and goals (14) in the tournament's history, Ronaldo embodies Portugal's aspirations for glory.
Speaking of the talented ensemble alongside him, including Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix, Rafael Leao, and Goncalo Ramos, Ronaldo emphasized their collective capability to secure Portugal's second European crown. Reflecting on their journey, Ronaldo remarked, "I believe that this generation deserves to win a competition of this magnitude."
With an eye on surpassing the semi-finals, Ronaldo tempered expectations while exuding confidence in the team's readiness and preparation. "We have to go step by step, live in the moment, be calm, work as well as we have until now, believe that it is possible," Ronaldo emphasized. "It's my sixth European Championship, it's about enjoying it in the best possible way, playing well and making sure the team can win."
As Portugal gears up for their Euro 2024 campaign, Ronaldo's rallying cry serves as a testament to their ambition and determination to etch their names in footballing history once again.
