Mikel Artera ,We won't win the league if this continues :Arsenal suffer setback in West Ham defeat
Arsenal's hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League were dealt a major blow as they lost 2-0 to West Ham at the London Stadium on Thursday night.
The Gunners dominated the possession and created numerous chances, but failed to find the back of the net despite having 30 shots and 77 touches in the West Ham box.
West Ham, on the other hand, were clinical and scored twice in the second half through Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio, who both capitalised on Arsenal's defensive errors.
The result left Arsenal in sixth place, nine points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, with only seven games remaining.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insisted that there was no panic in the dressing room and that his team would bounce back from the disappointing defeat.
"We are frustrated and disappointed, but we have to keep working and believing. We have a lot of quality and we can still achieve our goals. We have to be more ruthless in front of goal and more solid at the back. We have to learn from our mistakes and improve as a team," he said.
Arteta also praised West Ham for their performance and said they deserved to win.
"They are a very good team and they showed it today. They were very organised and efficient. They took their chances and defended well. They are having a great season and they are in the fight for the Champions League spots. We have to give them credit," he said.
Arsenal will look to return to winning ways when they face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday. The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports from 1pm, with kick-off at 2pm.
