Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo has returned to the club after representing Japan at the Asian Cup in Qatar.

The 28-year-old was part of the Samurai Blue squad that reached the quarter-finals of the continental competition, where they were eliminated by South Korea on penalties.

Endo featured in all five of Japan's games at the Asian Cup, scoring a stunning long-range goal in their 3-1 win over Iraq in the group stage.

He is now back with the Reds at the AXA Training Centre, where he will resume training with his teammates and compete for a place in Jurgen Klopp's side.

Endo joined Liverpool from Stuttgart in January 2024, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal. He has made six appearances for the Premier League champions so far, scoring one goal.
