Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth on Saturday, as their dismal season went from bad to worse. The visitors scored three goals in the second half, with Philip Billing, Dominic Solanke and Marcos Senesi finding the net, to inflict United's sixth loss in 15 Premier League games.
United manager Erik ten Hag, who is under increasing pressure after a poor start to his reign, saw his side booed off by the frustrated fans at Old Trafford. The Dutchman, who replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the summer, admitted that his team was "not good enough" and that he was "very disappointed" with the performance.
"We have to take responsibility for this result. We have to improve a lot. We have to show more character, more quality, more intensity. We have to work harder and stick together. We have to find solutions quickly, because we are Manchester United and we have to do better," he said.
Bournemouth manager Scott Parker, on the other hand, was delighted with his team's display, as they moved up to seventh in the table. The former Fulham boss praised his players for their "fantastic" effort and their "brave" approach.
"We came here with a game plan and we executed it perfectly. We knew we had to be compact, disciplined and aggressive, and we were. We also showed great quality on the ball and we took our chances. We scored three great goals and we could have scored more. It was a fantastic performance and a fantastic result," he said.
In other Premier League games, Liverpool maintained their four-point lead at the top of the table, but they had to come from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park. The hosts took the lead through Wilfried Zaha in the first half, but Liverpool equalised through Mohamed Salah just before the break. The Egyptian then set up Sadio Mane for the winner in the second half, as the Reds extended their unbeaten run to 21 games.
Brighton and Burnley shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium, with Simon Adingra cancelling out Chris Wood's opener for the visitors. Sheffield United edged past Brentford 1-0 at Bramall Lane, thanks to a goal from Oli McBurnie. Wolves and Nottingham Forest played out a 1-1 draw at Molineux, with Raul Jimenez scoring for the hosts and Lewis Grabban equalising for the visitors.
In the Championship, Leeds United moved to the top of the table with a 2-0 win at Blackburn, with goals from Patrick Bamford and Stuart Dallas. Leicester City thrashed Plymouth 4-0 at the King Power Stadium, with Jamie Vardy scoring a hat-trick and James Maddison adding the fourth. Ipswich Town stunned Middlesbrough 2-0 at the Riverside Stadium, with goals from James Norwood and Kayden Jackson.
In the Scottish Premiership, Rangers maintained their three-point lead over Celtic with a 3-1 win over Dundee at Ibrox, with goals from Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo. Celtic, who have a game in hand, play Aberdeen on Sunday.
In the Bundesliga, Eintracht Frankfurt shocked Bayern Munich with a 5-1 thrashing at the Commerzbank-Arena, with goals from Filip Kostic, Daichi Kamada, Martin Hinteregger, Goncalo Paciencia and Luka Jovic. Bayern, who had Jerome Boateng sent off in the first half, scored a consolation goal through Robert Lewandowski. The result left Bayern fourth in the table, four points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund, who beat Hertha Berlin 2-1 on Friday.
In La Liga, Real Madrid dropped two points in a 1-1 draw at Real Betis, with Aitor Ruibal cancelling out Vinicius Junior's opener for the visitors. The result left Real Madrid second in the table, one point behind leaders Girona, who play Barcelona on Sunday.
